William Brander, M.D.

Dr. Brander is a board-certified family medicine specialist. Born and raised in Chicago, Dr. Brander graduated from Northwestern University, obtained his medical degree from Rush Medical College and completed his Family Medicine residency at Lutheran General Hospital, where he was appointed chief resident. Throughout his more than 30 year career, Dr. Brander has cared for thousands of families, helping his patients stay healthy throughout all phases of their lives. In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Brander regularly volunteers his services to people in need throughout the world. He serves as the Chief of Medical Care for Operation Walk Chicago, an international medical humanitarian not-for-profit organization that provides free hip and knee replacement surgeries and helps hospitals develop ongoing models of quality care.  Through Operation Walk, Dr. Brander has cared for patients in Nepal, Vietnam, Brazil, Ecuador, India and other low-resource communities. He believes in training the next generation of physicians and has been instructing students for years, through the University of Chicago and Chicago Medical School. In recognition of his skills, Dr. Brander has been recognized as a regional top doctor by Castle Connolly (2016-2021) and Chicago Magazine Top Doctors for several years.

Dr. Brander is active in his community, spending his free time with his wife, large extended family and friends. He enjoys playing tennis, backpacking, reading and travel.
